Having served as a full-time Professor of Voice at five different universities spanning over thirty years, Dr. Brautigam's students are presently serving in numerous capacities literally around the globe - from singing lead roles with the Metropolitan Opera and major houses in Europe and Australia, to Broadway tours throughout the US., to service as university professors, secondary music educators, choral conductors, recording artists, church music and worship directors, private studio voice teachers, music therapists, and even as missionaries.
Supplemental to his teaching, Dr. Brautigam has consistently maintained a regular schedule of performances with numerous professional orchestras, opera companies, and choral organizations both in the US and abroad - prompting such reviews as "A marvelously versatile singer . . . the clear, telling quality of his outstanding voice was a pleasure to hear," and "Brautigam’s cavernous baritone was superb, rich, expressive, flexible and perfectly in tune."
Dr. Brautigam received his masters and doctoral training at the prestigious Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he was privileged to study with the world-renowned teacher of voice and 25-year Metropolitan Opera star, Miss Margaret Harshaw, as well as with the 30-year chair of the voice department, Dr. Roger Havranek. Subsequent studies have been with the long-time Chicago Lyric Opera coach, Giulio Favario, and West Michigan master teacher,
Mr. Nicholas Loren.
Reflective of his commitment to the vocal arts community, Dr. Brautigam is also the founder of the website services, Vocal Masterclassics and Majoring in Voice, resources that serve the training needs of numerous aspiring singers and teachers around the world. Reflecting on Vocal Masterclassics, the renowned mezzo-soprano, Denyce Graves, was inspired to call it "brilliant," and the world famous soprano, Jennifer Rowley, declared that she "highly recommends it for all young singers and teachers! It’s just awesome!” Dr. Brautigam considers it an honor to provide these resources for singers and teachers everywhere, and anticipates their continuing to inform and encourage aspiring vocalists for years to come.

"To study voice is a precious pursuit because it is the exploration of something that is uniquely you. No one else on the planet has your instrument, your personality, and your life experiences - so no one can express a song the way you can. Should we have the opportunity of working together, it will be my sincere pleasure to help you take the next step in the nurturing of YOUR voice!
- Keith Brautigam
